“Staff shortages have caused 45% of operators to cut trading hours or capacity, costing the hospitality industry £21bn in lost revenue.”
A combination of Covid, supply chain challenges and the cost-of-living-crisis is exacerbating existing long-term staffing problems in the catering and hospitality sector.
Documenting how chronic staffing shortages are hampering the sector’s recovery in recent months, Blue Arrow has produced a report recommending how employers can step up with long-term holistic strategies to tackle staffing and skills shortages.
With around 158,000* vacancies in the accommodation and food service industry businesses will need to evaluate their recruitment strategies to avoid being hindered from recovery.
The report suggests solutions employers could consider including a re-evaluation of their employer value proposition (EVP) to remain competitive as well as considering other talent pools to help overcome the staffing shortages.
As a staffing specialist supplying many thousands of catering staff to all shapes and size of companies, Blue Arrow is committed to playing its part in finding solutions that help its clients overcome talent shortages for this sector.
